MADAPs

Similar to the Apollo lunar program which retained a Command Module in orbit and landed a smaller descent and ascent vehicle to the surface, the Aldrin Cycler Motherships remain continuously in an Earth-Mars orbit and deploy smaller self-landing payloads to the surface. 

Each continuously cycling Mars Mothership can transport up to four smaller payload carriers called Mars Atmosphere Deceleration Aeroshell Pods (MADAPS) which land separately to reduce propellant otherwise required to land massive vehicles and relaunch crews back to Mars orbit and Earth return.
